for the (Black) people.

Welcome to the OBSIDIAN! In affiliation with the University of Alberta Black Student's Association, the OBSIDIAN is a news & information platform intended for black people. From the design to its content, our publication was formed to fulfill a need in the local community for news/information platforms which are not only specifically designed for a black audience, but serve to uplift and encourage organizations, companies, and individuals in the black community.

We are here for you, to inform our readers of the important steps that are being made to promote the empowerment of black individuals and all people of color.

Our page may not look like or remind you of a “typical” newspaper/newsletter. That is because it isn’t. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of our community in way that has not been done before, and has not been considered “normal” or “mainstream.”

Stay tuned, big things are happening.
